Warriors in Motion Yoga represents the notion that each of us is a warrior in our right. We’re active and strong, we move. We meditate, sit, pause, and find gratitude in the smallest things. We’re courageous, fearless, and supportive. We wake each day to new challenges, and how we choose to approach or respond to the curve balls of life is what ultimately defines us.
On our yoga mats, I encourage students to seek freedom through movement, allowing the body and the mind to experience life in its fullest form each day. Creating space in the body, quieting the mind of everyday chatter, and learning to breath fully and mindfully is just the beginning of the process.
I’ve discovered through the practice of quieting the mind that we can learn so much about ourselves, as well as gain valuable insight into our relationships with others. Stepping into nature, turning off the gadgets, and getting off the grid, changes our perspective and opens us to universal acceptance.
I often remind myself that we were all created as human beings, not as human doings. What happens when we do less and simply just be? A powerful shift occurs, and from that freedom, ease, and release flow forth.
Freedom through movement. Give it a try.
Creator of Warriors in Motion Yoga, Malissa A. Schwamm
As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Malissa found yoga to be the obvious choice for someone who desperately needed to strike a balance between strength and flexibility. Initially, she was drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, enjoying the challenges of asana, however as someone who´s been practicing and teaching for nearly two decades, Malissa has discovered the deeper benefits of this lifelong journey. This evolution of self-discovery is what she shares and encourages in those who attend her classes. Through day-to-day life experiences, Malissa believes her practice both on and off the yoga mat have deepened her understanding and appreciation for what a dedicated practice can offer. She teaches various forms of yoga including Hatha, Yin, and Restorative, and especially appreciates Vinyasa flow for the combination of mental focus, Pranayama (breath control) and strengthening through proper alignment techniques.
Malissa holds certifications from YogaWorks® and YogaFit® and she is registered with Yoga Alliance®. She considers Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty, Darren Rhodes and her students to be among her most respected teachers.
Malissa unplugs by spending time outdoors with family and friends, Gardening, trail running, hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing and travelling are among her pastimes. Malissa’s mantra is, “surround yourself with those who make you laugh. Laughter is contagious and healthy.”
